VENUE CWMBRAN CANAL I had a late in the day session starting at 1515 next to Pets at Home. Two others were in the same vicinity but thankfully my favourite spot was free. I had fifteen Roach, four Gudgeon and 1 Perch.
ADDITIONAL LOCAL INFORMATION Ty Coch was netted 2 weeks ago and the big Carp (over 100) were removed and placed in the fire station stretch a little further upstream. These were replaced with 2500 4-6 inch Carp.

79 Fish caught to 9lb 55 roach, 11 Rudd, 3 Tench, 5 Perch, 4 Gudgeon, 1 Bream. Bread punch and maggot was the bait. Well done Gareth.

8 fish caught 5 Gudgeon, 1Roach, 1 Rudd and 1 Perch. Very pleasant weather conditions. Also reported to Cwmbran Pet shop by phone the low water level in the section above the subway.

5.5 Hours in blazing Sunshine produced 37 Bream and 2 roach on the feeder to 18lb. My companion weighed 32lb number unknown.

Caught one small Gudgeon in first 5 Mins nothing for remaining 5 hours. Nobody else caught either. Tried Denrabina and Maggot both on ledger and float all to no avail. Hmm should have gone on the bottom pond or the Canal.

16 Tench, 3 Crucian, 2 Perch and 1 Rudd. One fish was bright orange but looked exactly like the shape and features of a Crucian total weight 8lb 12 ozs. Pic below.

Prior to the start of heavy rain I had bites and had the pleasant surprise of hooking a 2lb 2oz Bream. Pic below. My only other catch during the rain was an Eel. We were absolutely drenched by the time my wife picked us up at 10 PM. Even my underpants were wet through.

Fished non stop from 7am till 9pm in glorious sunshine and not a bite. At 9 am it started to rain so set up my umbrella and miraculously I had a fish every cast up until 3-30 pm. I ended up with 130 small fish consisting of 2 Bream and 2 Rudd the rest was made up of Gudgeon and Perch. Would have stayed later but ran out of bait.

VENUE LLANTARNAM MIDDLE POND
This beauty was caught 3 pegs down from the end peg (18). The Tench pictured weighed in at 1lb 14 ozs. The fish appeared to be diseased and I drew the Bailiffs attention to it who inspected it and said NO its rub marks from where the fish has been spawning. The fish was caught on double bronze maggot. Additionally I also caught a small eel on Denrabina using a ledger rig.
CARLS REPORT MONDAY 12TH MAY
VENUE BOTTOM POND LLANTARNAM
Fished with ledger and a small swim feeder. After some 20 mins I had a tidy 3lb Tench. Later I was taken for a ride by a really big fish which ran to the left and dug into the bottom snagged on something in a weed bed and ended up breaking off at the hook. Venue Ty Coch Cwmbran Canal
Fished with 2 rods one on ledger with Martins Pellets and the other on float with Maggot. Caught a 13lb Common Carp on the ledger and caught a 4 oz Perch and an Eel on the float.
